FrancesaCon Two

Aight weah back.

It’s that time of year again, and as the wheels of FrancesaCon Numbah Two churn in motion we want to take a look back at last year’s event alongside our friends and followers and luxuriate in its success.

We had no idea what to expect at first, (nobody did) but it was clear from the second the doors opened that Mongo Nation was ready to make this a special, special day.

With over 500 attendees piling into the Saloon in the course of only a couple of hours, the madness began soon after the day started. Mongos donned in grey wigs and stethoscope headphones poured into the bar to celebrate not only the Sports Pope himself, but also the gathering of a community.

FrancesaCon One reached a fever pitch when Bill Buchanan aka “Bizzaro Zaun” and Michael Benevento brought down the house as Mike & the Mad Dog, which included live interviews with New York Jets TE Jeff Cumberland and NFL Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood. That’s right, a fake Mike Francesa and a fake Chris Russo interviewed the real Jets tight end last year. #MongoNation

After the show and a few beverages for everyone, the party continued into the streets of the Upper East Side, touching on a few other bars. Bars in which one was hard pressed to find a frown, we gave away some raffle prizes and reveled in the sight of hundreds of mingling Mongos, whom should be noted as being on their best behavior all day, enjoying a wild bar crawl without a single issue or complaint.

Not only was #MongoNation on its best behavior, we also were able to raise thousands of dollars for charity through your generosity. Well done.

Then it got really weyid about three hours into the day when Pakistani-British boxing champion Amir Khan showed up with his entourage to shoot some footage for his upcoming documentary. #MongoNation

As FrancesaCon One came to a close we felt nothing but pride to be able to bring this weiyd, wonderful community together and we couldn’t be more excited to get things going for dis year’s event.

And with that said, we are pleased to announce Saturday, January 24th as the date for dis year’s FrancesaCon, with promises of some of the same in addition to even more wackiness. The success of last year’s event was a complete team effort and we expect more of the same this year.

We are happy to confirm that the wonderful people at Saloon have offered up their venue as FrancesaCon HQ. We coulda done duh Javits Center, but we decided that they didn’t have what we were asking for. We expect many of the same bars that were packed to the gills with Mongos last year to be back. We also welcome any bars in the area to join the party. If you want your bar to be a stop along the way, you know how to reach us.

We expect FrancesaCon Two to be just as insane and fun as FrancesaCon One, and we’ve got some pretty big surprises in store for #MongoNation, including guests, giveaways, and stellar entertainment. There have even been some talks within the conclave and white smoke could be billowing out of the roof of the Saloon by day’s end. All you have to do is stay tuned from now until then to see what’s to come.

Thank you to all that have helped us put together duh Numbah One event in duh history of New York City. A special thanks to @OrdioMongo, @BizzaroZaun, @seatswaptickets, @mikebenevento, @nyanks1979, and our fine friends at Saloon for all their help.

We look forward to releasing more details in the coming weeks, and just remember. When FrancesaCon is FrancesaCon it is Duh 1996 Yankees World Series Parade.

Love,

Ron, Michael, and the entire Handsome Wolf family.
